Terry College of Business was founded in 1912. It was renamed after alumnus Herman Terry and his wife Mary Virginia Terry. The business school in the University of Georgia is known for its excellent undergraduate and MBA programs alike. It’s ranked in top 15 of public business schools and has campuses in Athens and in Atlanta! The new complex in the Athens campus is home to hundreds of classrooms, faculty, and many organizations aimed to help every single Terry student succeed and work toward a bright future. Below are just a few clubs that you can join as a Terry business student!
ALPHA KAPPA PSI
The first organization is a business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi, also known as AKPsi. Now don’t get this confused with a real fraternity, they are not alike. Both men and women can join AKPsi and there is no hazing. Founded in 1922, they are the only business fraternity on campus to have both a house on Milledge Ave., and to also allow other majors (not strictly business) to join the professional fraternity! They utilize their house to host weekly meetings, workshops to practice professionalism, and other club events. Visit this page for more information and you can apply to become a brother for AKPsi!
MULTICULTURAL BUSINESS STUDENT ASSOCIATION at UGA
MBSA is another great leading organization at the University of Georgia. This organization incorporates students with diverse backgrounds while catering to whatever their professional needs may be. MBSA provides many resources, such as mentoring programs, workshops, business competitions, and networking opportunities to advance their careers! This organization is also a great support system for students of different backgrounds who may find themselves feeling a little out of place in their new business school. Find more information about MBSA here!
MINORITIES IN TECHNOLOGY
Another great organization for ethnically diverse students is Minorities in Technology. Like it says on the club’s website, minorities are oftentimes left out of important decisions made in businesses and overlooked in their workplaces. This organization was made to combat those issues and help students achieve their maximum potential and get the experience and practice they need to succeed in their future careers. They do this by providing all sorts of professional development workshops and provides exposure to many internships and companies. Read more about Minorities in Technology here!
WOMEN IN BUSINESS
The workplace can be a tough place for women to get accustomed to, as they can get overlooked and left out. WIB connects its members with representatives and speakers to teach the women in the organization how to stick up for oneself, and how to succeed in Terry and the future business world. They also host dozens of philanthropic events to raise money and help the nearby communities! Read more about WIB here. There are also more women-based organizations in Terry to foster the success of young women in the business school, such as Women in Economics, Women in Finance, and Women in Technology.
