Since “Avengers: Endgame”, Marvel fans have been eagerly waiting for Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Luckily, fans have to wait no longer since “Thor: Love and Thunder” was released in theaters on July 8.
According to People, the film earned $143 million at the U.S. box office this past opening weekend.
This was the third-best opening weekend of 2022 and brought in $302 million across the globe.
As stated in a Rotten Tomatoes article, “Thor: Love and Thunder” is the highest debuting film of the four movies starring Hemsworth.
If you are debating whether you want to see it in theaters or not, this is my spoiler-free, honest review.

Overview:
To start off, I feel like it is important to note that there are two different types of Thor fans.
There are the fans that like the original serious Thor and those who like the more recent funny version of Thor.
If you are the second type of Thor fan, you’re in luck with this movie.
“Thor: Love and Thunder” is easily the funniest Thor movie yet and maybe the silliest movie in all of the MCU.
The humor was endless, with every line feeling like there is a punch line following shortly after.
Those wanting to see a more serious Marvel movie might want to skip this release because you may not like how often serious moments are turned into comedic relief in this film.
In my personal opinion, I love the humorous side of Marvel and enjoyed every second of the jokes (no matter how dumb they got).
Transitioning more to the actual plot, the overall plot of the movie was entertaining to me but there were aspects of the plot that could have been dived into more.
There were times that I wished the length of the movie was extended so they could go a little more in-depth with certain storylines that felt rushed to me.
Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) was by far one of the best parts of this movie to me.
Bale’s acting was great and came off super creepy. His plot was also interesting and heartbreaking to me, making me care more about his mission.
Taika Waititi:
Taika Waititi is the well-known director of movies like “Jojo Rabbit” and “Thor: Ragnarok.”
His experience also extends to the Star Wars franchise, directing an episode of “The Mandalorian” and an upcoming Star Wars film that has not been given a title.
It felt like Waititi took every humorous aspect of “Thor: Ragnarok” that people liked and then multiplied it for this movie.
He also continued to experiment with color in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” making it an aesthetically pleasing film to watch.
The action scenes also lived up to fans’ high expectations and left no one disappointed by the end of the movie.
