I just want to preface this by saying, LOL. “Mighty” Alabama barely snuck out a win against Texas and we are supposed to fear them. We are now ranked number one in the nation, even though we looked a little lackluster this week. But that’s the thing, a 33 point win is seen as a bad game for us, that’s how high of a standard UGA football is held to. But honestly we did look a lot better against Oregon than we did Samford. Nonetheless let’s move on to what we’re all here for and get the ball rolling.
The Countdown Begins
The game against Samford was alright. Also in the spirit of making fun of Alabama, let me just add that Samford is ranked higher academically than Alabama if anyone was wondering. Anyway back to the game, there just weren’t any real plays that made you go “WOW!” First game of the season so a lot of people were excited. However, as I talked to most people who were entering the game, the common consensus was that the game would be over soon. No one was worried and after watching the game we had no right to worry as Samford scored a very impressive 0 points this game. Anywho, the 3rd best UGA play of the week belongs to:
Kenny Mcintosh
Immediately following a Samford turnover, UGA got the ball in Samford territory. It was midway through the first and our beloved Dawgs only had a three point advantage. Stet gets the snap and throws a small toss to the left to Kenny Mcintosh. He makes a defender miss and takes off with lightning speed. He ran with the speed and poise of Nick Chubb, quickly breaking from the Samford 40 to the Samford 20 and it looked like he might even make it into the end-zone before he was tripped up at the 13.UGA is known throughout the country as RBU and Mcintosh certainly helped us live up to our name on this play.
Week 2: UGA Running back lights up Samford’s defense on electrifying run
Stetson Bennett
STET!!! Wow, my love for this man grows every week. He’s not perfect but he continues to play with heart and grit and keeps racking up the wins and honestly that’s all we need. He impressed in the first half but one play that stuck in the back of my mind was a throw he made near the end of the first. Stet took a snap from our own 35 and Samford’s defensive tackle was manhandling our line. Stet runs to his right, not immediately bailing out of the pocket into the run, but instead still scanning the field with utter coolness, completely unfazed. Stet then spots Ladd Mcconkey open on Samford’s 30 and throws a beautiful pass that Mcconkey easily cradles for a nice gain. Oh Stet how you continue to amaze.
Week 2: Stetson hits McConkey for a huge gain
Stetson Bennett
Stet had a great game. I remember 3 particularly big plays he had, one which I already talked about, the other his 2 yard touchdown run, and the other a deep shot on 3rd and 6. Now the 2 yard touchdown run and the 3rd down conversion were not better than the play of his I selected as the second best play of the week, however, I’m considering both his touchdown run and his big 3rd down play as the best play of the week. Yes I’m never going to stop hyping up my quarterback… get over it. Nonetheless a great game on both sides of the ball and we are now ranked number 1 in the nation. Now I would call that a great weekend.
Same time, same place see y’all next week!
