I see the irony for a vegetarian to share the three best burger places in Athens, Georgia. However, in the past few years, a burger has not just meant a juicy piece of beef between a patty. There are now plenty of ways for vegans and vegetarians to enjoy a good burger too. There are Beyond, veggie, tofu, and numerous other plant-based patties to choose from. While this may not pertain to the carnivores reading this, don’t worry. The benefit of these three burger places in Athens, Georgia is that they can be enjoyed by vegetarians, vegans, carnivores, and anything in between.

When craving the all-American hearty meal, Clocked is your place. Their burgers, fries, and shakes are some of the best I have ever had. My personal favorite is the Beyond Burger which is a pattie that looks just like a real beef pattie but without the meat! The advantage of Beyond Burgers is that they have the same amount of protein as beef and they are healthier for you. Due to this, you may even see some carnivores eating them! It’s hard to explain the flavor of a Beyond Burger but I think they taste really good and are worth trying if anyone hasn’t yet. 

If going a more traditional route, Clocked serves 100% natural beef that is humanely raised and never frozen. While I cannot speak from experience on how these burgers taste, my friends and family sure do love them! 

I may not know much about their beef, but I know a whole lot about their sides. Whenever my grandma visits she always wants to go to Clocked and get some sweet potato fries and I don’t blame her. Their sweet potato fries and tater tots are packed with flavor and have the perfect amount of crisp to them. Clocked also sells specialty sauces like basil-jalapeño and chipotle feta to dip your sides in. If you are in the area, give them a try!

Farm Burger is fairly new to Athens. It is a chain restaurant with eight locations in Georgia. While it is new, it seems to have stolen the heart of Athens very quickly. My friends and I recently went and now I can say that it is worth all the hype. 

One of my friends is gluten-free and I am vegetarian so finding a place that suits us plus our friends is hard. Farm Burger went beyond our expectations. They have gluten-free buns and french fries for those who are Celiac or gluten intolerant and vegan burgers for vegetarians or vegans. They also have a build-your-own burger option for those who are picky eaters or on a keto diet. I will be the first to say that finding a place that is suitable for all dietary restrictions is nearly impossible to find but Farm Burger has found a way to make eating burgers enjoyable for all who want one. 

If trying out Farm Burger, I do have one recommendation, they have massive burgers and are not sparing with their fries so I recommend asking for some utensils to prevent people’s hands from getting messy while eating. I know not everyone cares about getting messy when it comes to eating a big burger but my friends and I went through a lot of napkins when we visited so it may be beneficial to have some utensils.

Grindhouse Killer Burgers

I know I am not the only one who craves a good thick chocolate milkshake. When in the mood for one, go to Grindhouse Killer Burgers. They are a chain restaurant in Georgia with six locations. Their one in Athens does a lot of business for their juicy burgers and yummy shakes. 

Whenever my sister comes into town, Grindhouse is her request for where we eat. She is a vegetarian like myself and thankfully, this restaurant sells veggie and Impossible burgers. Impossible burgers are plant-based burgers made from soy. They look very similar to Beyond Burgers but taste different. My sister prefers Impossible burgers over Beyond ones and not many restaurants sell them which is why Grindhouse is her favorite. 

For carnivores, Grindhouse sells double patties which are two fresh ground chuck and brisket blend beef patties stacked on top of each other and smothered in desired toppings. For those who have a hard time deciding what they want to order, Grindhouse offers burger styles which are fancy burgers with fun toppings like onion rings or pico de gallo. 

If going to Grindhouse Killer Burger, don’t pass up on their shakes. Not only do they have so many shakes to choose from, but they also have some unique flavors and additions. If someone is feeling crazy, they may want to order the maple bacon shake or if someone is feeling adventurous and is of age, they may want to try a shake with some vodka or bourbon in it. There is truly something for everyone here.
