Cozy & Delicious Places to Visit in Athens

As a fellow Athens resident and student at the University of Georgia, I feel like it’s my duty to share with others all of the great restaurants and cozy places that you must visit during your time in Athens! If you’re anything like me, studying in your room or on campus does not seem to cut it anymore, and you might be in desperate need of a new study spot. Look no further! You also might be getting rather tired of eating out at the same places here, so if you want to explore new restaurants in Athens, keep reading. 

MOLLY’S COFFEE COMPANY

Molly’s Coffee Company is a coffee shop based in Athens, GA. It is known for its high-quality coffee and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular destination for Athens locals and visitors alike. It is also a great place if you need to get out of your house to finish up your homework somewhere else! Molly’s Coffee Co prides itself on sourcing the best coffee beans and the best possible brewing techniques to create a unique and enjoyable experience for its customers. MAMA’S BOY

You simply cannot spend a day in Athens without hitting up the infamous brunch place that everyone and their mom knows and loves – Mama’s Boy. It’s best known for its southern-style comfort food, offering breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes during its operating hours. The restaurant has a warm and open atmosphere, featuring indoor and outdoor sitting. But be ready for its long lines and crazy wait times! I’ve learned to get there early and give myself sometimes even a full hour for the wait. BIG CITY BREAD CAFE

Big City Bread Cafe is a bakery and cafe located in Athens, GA. It is known for its artisan bread, baked fresh daily, and its extensive menu of sandwiches, soups, salads, and baked goods. The cafe has a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a popular spot for all three meals of the day. BUBBLE CAFE

Bubble Cafe is a restaurant located in the heart of downtown Athens that specializes in Bubble (or Boba) Tea. This is a very popular and well-known Taiwanese drink made with milk, tea, and tapioca beads. The cafe offers not only a wide selection of different flavors (like taro, lychee, and more) but also a wide selection of Asian-inspired snacks and small dishes. The overall atmosphere is very cozy and aesthetic, as well, making it a great spot to work or relax with friends after classes. Probably the coolest thing about this place is how underground it feels to walk into it. Walking past it, you might even miss it the first time! Flying Biscuit Cafe is a breakfast and brunch restaurant located in Athens and it is known best for its classic southern dishes and its commitment to using fresh and local ingredients.
