B2B Social Media Marketing – The Future Is Now

I believe one of the most prolific opportunities in B2B marketing exists right now in social media.  For B2B marketing, you can no longer think of social media as the place where you share photos of cats, or tweet about brushing your teeth, and share a video on Facebook of your dog sleeping.  Although these are all great posts on a personal level, this is not where the untapped opportunity resides in B2B social media marketing. The future I see, and that I'm experiencing today, is one where social media opens the door to connections in hyper concentrated silos, and where social media is creating the biggest opportunity in history for brands to step up and become the thought leaders in their own unique space. For example, if you are a manager or consultant working in the risk management space, it's likely that you'll be attracted to content being shared by major risk management brands.  And if the major brands are sharing in-depth, knowledge based content [...]

Stunning New Research! Why Your Business Needs To Be Active On Facebook

Is your business easily found on Facebook? Have you, or your business (product, service, brand) been looking for a good excuse to start using Facebook for your business? If so, then I think you'll find the information below VERY interesting and compelling. Facebook is exploding in popularity Facebook has recently surpassed the 800 million member mark, and its growth doesn't seem ready to slow any time soon.  Along with the explosive member growth on Facebook comes the unimaginable number that reveals just how long each user, on average, spends on Facebook once they login. According to a recent study by Nielson, total user time on site reached 53.5 billion minutes in the month of May 2011.   Guess who (or what) the next closest site was in total user time on site?  Yahoo at 17.2 billion minutes, with Google coming in third with 12.5 billion minutes total time spent on site in May 2011. Facebook Camera App, Not Yet Available For Business Facebook Pages

As you probably know by now, Facebook released a new photo sharing app called "Facebook Camera for iPhone".  The new Facebook camera app is pretty slick, I have to admit.  It takes of the same features you'll find with Instagram, like the ability to crop and alter the image based on a wide range of themes. But what's clearly missing from the lineup of features with the Facebook Camera app is the ability to post images as a Facebook page admin.  This is a feature that, in my opinion, should have been in place since the day one release. I know what you're thinking though... you are like, "man, can't anyone be happy with something that's released and not complain about it?"  I agree, too much complaining out there.  But from the perspective of Facebook's user base, and considering how many fan page admins exist out there, having the Facebook Camera app work with pages would have been nice. [...]

How To Add Facebook Recommendations Bar To WordPress

The Facebook recommendations bar is a great way to integrate the Facebook graph into your Wordpress blog.  Having the recommendations bar operating on your Wordpress site can help engage your readers, increase your pageviews due to more articles being read per visitor, and also opens the door to get people to send links to your blog into their news stream on Facebook which can dramatically increase your traffic and exposure. Adding Facebook Recommendation Bar to your Wordpress Site I was able to add the Facebook recommendation bar to my site at TabletCrunch.com pretty easily by taking the following code right before the </head> tag in the header.php: <div data-read-time="5" num_recommendations="4"></div> Once I added that code and updated my header.php, I now see the new Facebook Recommendation bar appearing in the lower right hand corner of all my articles.  Here's a screenshot (or view this article and look to the lower right hand corner, after about 5 seconds the recommendation [...]

The Magic Of #25 & #30 With Your Facebook Fan Page

I'll admit it, Bipper Media's Facebook page is still pretty new - just like BipperMedia.com. Even though the site's been up for about 6 months now, it's really only been the last two months where I've working with clients on content marketing.  And I guess it's because I'm starting over with Facebook page that I'm realizing there are some key thresholds as a page admin that are very important in the life of your Facebook Fan Page. The magic of 25 Facebook Fan Page fans Take the #25 for instance:  once you've hit 25 fans, you are then able to create your own customer username / URL for your Facebook fan page. This is pretty important because you can then start branding your Facebook page to your business - for example, Facebook.com/BipperMedia. Being able to brand your Facebook page with a custom URL allows you to do things like update your business cards, letter head, and other printed material [...]

A Keyboard Shortcut For LinkedIn You Don’t Want To Miss

The other day I was on LinkedIn writing a reply message to someone, and when I was ready to send the message I did something that was instinctive in nature, but I discovered that it actually worked. And I was amazed, stunned, and even speechless for a brief moment. No, I didn't discover gravity or anything substantial like that, unfortunately.  But what I did discover is a keyboard shortcut that allowed me to send my message from LinkedIn email, or LinkedIn messaging. The keyboard shortcut to send messages in LinkedIn is "Tab + Enter".  So you'd hit the tab key and the enter key at the same time, and this will send your message from your LinkedIn email system. This is a tried and true keyboard shortcut that I use religiously in Gmail.  Every time I write a message in Gmail, I'm sending it with "Tab + Enter".  And this particular day in LinkedIn, I was typing fast and [...]

How To Have A Town Hall Meeting On Twitter

Twitter has grown into one of the most dominant social media forces in the world.  Although it's mostly used for one way broadcast messaging, the ease of access and unrestricted environment allows for valuable information to flow and reach those who are most interested in what's being shared. Twitter is also a great platform to host discussions, or otherwise isolate a particular stream of content.  This is done through the use of hashtags.  For example, a hashtag could be #wtc.  This would isolate all tweets centered around the discussion about the World Trade Center, and other people could get involved by simply sending their own tweet with the hashtag #twc in the message. This leads me to the idea of holding a town hall meeting for a local city using a predesignated hashtag.  For example, I live here in Athens, Georgia.  And let's say Athens wanted to host a town hall meeting via Twitter.  We would simply need to [...]

If you live in a small city like say Athens, Georgia or Binghamton, NY, then what's the best way to optimize your web presence? This is something that a lot of small and local business owners think about when it comes to capturing search traffic from places like Google.  There's no doubt that the majority of people are on Google searching and researching local products and services - the question that local business owners is a legitimate one indeed.
