Summer is the best time of the year to spend time with your significant other and enjoy the warm weather and sunshine. With a whole 3 months of summer ahead of us, what’s stopping you from going out and trying some new date ideas? Don’t just stick to the same dinner and a movie plan every single time. These are simple and inexpensive date ideas that are creative and fun. The best part is, you can repeat these date ideas multiple times throughout the summer months, just in slightly different spots, so let’s get into it!
OUTDOOR MOVIE
Going to a movie theater a couple of times a month might be a dull routine for you and your significant other. Buying the same bucket of popcorn, sour candy, and cherry soda before heading in to see a boring movie might have just sucked all the fun and excitement out of date night. How do you get that excitement back? Outdoor movie night! That’s how. Lots of different community centers or parks will organize outdoor movie screenings in big, open areas during the summertime. Bring a comfy blanket and pillows or a couple of lawn chairs and cuddle up together under the stars. If you can’t seem to find a place that hosts outdoor movie nights, you can even do it yourself! Just set up a white sheet, invest in a relatively cheap movie projector, and spend the night together watching your favorite classics!
BEACH DAY DATE
If you’re lucky and live close to the beach, what better date than to spend a full day at the beach? Gather your supplies the night before and whip up some delicious snacks and treats to pack in a cooler! Extend your beach date night out to the night before, as well, so you can spend the night packing and putting together everything for your mini beach vacation. Pack a bag of sunscreen, towels, sunglasses, change of clothing, magazines, and any other essentials you might need on a hot summer day at the beach. When you get there, you can spend the day building sandcastles together, tanning outside, and playing in the water. When the day begins to come to an end, head to the boardwalk or go out to dinner at your favorite ocean-side restaurant.
ROOFTOP DINNER
It’s important to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air while the weather is still pleasant. For a fun twist on a regular date night at your same old boring restaurant, try to find a new place that offers exciting outdoor or even rooftop seating. Try a place that you guys have never been to, or try a new style of cooking or cuisine that you both have never had before! Watch the sunset together or eat together under the stars.
CANOEING OR KAYAKING
Going canoeing or kayaking is another great summertime date! Even if you’ve never done this before, it’s perfectly easy and safe to do for your first time! If there’s a nearby lake or river, call to see if they do any sort of canoe or kayak rentals and figure out all the details for that. Pack a small lunch or mini picnic to bring with you and paddle together. Be sure to check the weather to make sure there won’t be any rain or storm and then make your plans!
