The week leading up to your piercing appointment can be a nerve wracking one, but don’t stress! It’s especially important to keep stress levels low and keep as little tension in your body as possible. It’s also very important to hydrate and drink lots of water, while also keeping your alcohol and drug intake very limited. Also, on the day of, avoid drinking too much coffee, energy drinks, or alcohol, as these will thin your blood significantly or make it hard to sit still.

Now you’ve been pierced! What’s next? Take it easy! Avoid partaking in any reckless activities to make sure you don’t cause any premature injuries to your fresh piercings. On average, most piercings will heal within three to five months, but each are different depending on where you get them pierced on your body. In reality, however, you must remember it can take up to multiple years for a piercing to completely and entirely heal! 

It’s crucial you take it easy the first few days and weeks after receiving your piercing. Don’t play with your piercings or touch it with dirty hands, and be careful when putting on or removing clothes to make sure nothing tugs at your piercing.
