Podcasts are nothing new in our society. Nearly 41 percent of Americans over the age of 12 listen to podcasts monthly, and that percentage has only increased in the past couple of years.

It’s no surprise why podcasts are so popular. Over 2 million podcasts exist with topics ranging from dating advice to geopolitical tension, so you can find a podcast that touches on nearly any topic you want to understand.

It can seem daunting, trying to sift through all the options and find podcasts that speak to you, but really it’s just a matter of putting on a podcast and trying it out.

With that being said, here’s a list of podcasts to listen to broken down by category.

News and Politics

I will take this moment to add a disclaimer that bias exists in almost everything, and as listeners, we must strive to consume media from different perspectives and viewpoints to understand the full picture of news and politics in our world.

NPR, a reputable news source, hosts a daily podcast that reports on the three biggest stories of the day all within 10 minutes.

Honorable Mentions

You’re Wrong About

Each week Sarah Marshall and Michael Hobbes examine a historical figure who’s been misrepresented in history. They dive into why these figures were miscast in the public eye and work to unveil the truth behind their stories.

This podcast takes an interesting approach where each week, one host researches the topic they will discuss and the other comes in with little to no knowledge about the subject. They tackle the discussion with research and opinion to give a full view of the historical figure’s life.

Take a listen and maybe you’ll learn something new within the 50-minute podcast episodes.
