The Trouble with Hating You by Sajni Patel
The only novel on this list not part of a series, the book follows the story of independent, outspoken Liya and arrogant but charming Jay. Jay was chosen by Liya’s parents for a marriage match, but after Liya hastily walked out on meeting him, she discovers he was also hired as a lawyer at Liya’s firm. She had no need to get married right away, let alone listen to her parents’ choice about the man she should settle with. After consistent rebellion and outbursts, Jay and Liya become close and she finally opens her heart and gives him a chance, but not without a fair share of drama and tears. The Selection by Kiera Cass
The Selection was one of the first young adult romance books I read, and I keep going back to reread it. In the story, 35 young girls are given the chance to compete and win over the prince and, potentially, his hand in marriage. America never considered competing in the competition, as she already has another man she is interested in. She ends up signing up to possibly provide her family with a better life. When she gets selected as one of the 35 girls, she becomes whisked away in this fairytale world and learns more about the prince and herself. Read this novel as well as the other four in this dystopian romance series here.
