Constant and continuous exposure to screens can lead to mental fatigue and eye strain. This in turn leads to destroyed sleep patterns. Taking breaks from technology allows your mind to relax and recharge, which promotes better overall well-being.

Too much technology use has been linked to more stress, anxiety, and depression. Detoxing from digital devices can help you to reduce these negative effects as it provides a break from the constant stream of information, comparing yourself to others, and overall pressures people face from social media.

If a total digital detox feels too overwhelming and you’re not ready to give up screens completely, that’s okay! Start small. For example, begin by turning off notifications for non-essential apps, schedule short breaks from social media throughout the day, and try to commit to device-free meals, mornings, or evenings. 

Find alternate activities
