The Waffle House Museum will teach you more than 60 years of history about the iconic 24-hour chain. 

Listed on the Georgia Historical Society list of historic sites, the museum has a re-creation of the original restaurant that opened in 1955. 

Not only was this museum featured in Southern Living magazine, but it also appeared in the show Halt and Catch Fire that aired on AMC. 

Though it is currently closed due to COVID-19, the Waffle House Museum will hopefully reopen soon. 

2. World of Coca-Cola

Hours: Open Monday through Thursday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Friday through Sunday from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M.

3. Vidalia Onion Museum

Hours: Open Monday through Friday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. 

Believe it or not, there is a 1,300-square-foot space dedicated to the history of Vidalia onions that you can explore for free!

There are educational, interactive exhibits where you can learn about the economic, cultural and culinary importance of Vidalia onions. 

In the Living Exhibit, you can see the smallest registered Vidalia onion field that is located right in front of the museum. 

Explore six different exhibits that will change the way you look at Vidalia onions! 

4. College Football Hall of Fame

Address: 250 Marietta St. N.W., Atlanta, GA 30313

Hours: Open every day but Monday and Wednesday from 10 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

The College Football Hall of Fame has nine different activities visitors can partake in, including an indoor playing field, a theater, various galleries and more. 

The museum’s newest exhibit, the Specialty Exhibit, will teach you about the largest names in football over the past 50 years.

5. Center for Puppetry Arts

Hours: Open Tuesday through Friday from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M., Saturday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. and Sunday from 12 P.M. to 5 P.M. 

From Sesame Street to The Muppet Show, the Center of Puppetry Arts will teach you everything you need to know about puppeteering. 

The museum is always changing since it has two galleries that rotate exhibitions and you can also see a variety of puppet shows that the museum hosts. 

You can see props and puppets from a variety of films and learn the history behind each of them!

This is a great place to bring children and let them interact with the most well-known puppets of all time. 

6. American Prohibition Museum

Hours: Open every day from 10 A.M. to 5:15 P.M. 

Surprisingly, this museum is the only prohibition museum in America!

Here, you can learn about the history and how Americans dealt with the 21st Amendment before and after it was ratified in 1933.

8. The Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House

Hours: Open Thursday through Saturday from 11 A.M. to 6 P.M. and Sunday from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. 

Though The Allman Brothers Band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969, the Allmans were born and raised in Macon.

The Allman Brothers Band Museum at the Big House will teach you the history behind the southern rock band through its exhibits. 

You can explore the rooms the members grew up in, where they wrote and recorded their most popular songs and more.
