Most of you know about Google Places, right?  This is a free service provided by Google that allows any business with a local address to create a business listing.  Basically, with a Google Places page, your business is able to present contact information to someone searching for your type of business, product, or service.

The powerful thing about Google Places is that for most local search queries (i.e. “pizza in atlanta ga“), the Google Places section loads at the top of the search results even above the natural search results.

Here’s a screen shot so you can see what I’m talking about:

As you can see, the entire top of the search results is Google Places listings.  These are all local businesses in Altanta that sell pizza.

You’ll get the same thing on a mobile phone like an iPhone for example:

As you can see, with Google Places pages, people on mobile devices will see the map icons showing them places that are nearby.  But the searcher will also get a local listing, much like a standard Google search result that you are used to.

Mobile Website For Your Business

What’s cool about Google Places – and the best reason in the world to have a mobile website for your business – is that when someone taps on your Google Places listing, then your mobile website will load if you attach your website to Places page.

When you are building your Google Places page, you are able to add a website URL.  This website URL will load anytime someone clicks on your Google Places page.  When someone is on a mobile phone (iPhone, iPad, or Android device) and taps your Google Places listing, then your mobile website will load.

Push To Call Button

One of the most powerful features of a mobile website, if it’s built properly of course, is a feature called Push To Call.  If the person who is searching for a local business, product, or service and comes across your mobile website, then imagine has impressed they would be to be able to, in one click, be ringing your phone.  The Push To Call feature is a powerful tool for any mobile website.

Mobile Website – Not A Mobile App

One of the best features of a mobile website for your business is that you don’t need to pay a bunch of money to have a developer build an app for the iPhone, and then another app for the iPad, and then yet another app for Android devices, and so on…

With a mobile website, no matter what mobile device you are on, your site will load fast, securely, and effectively on all devices.  And because it’s a mobile friendly site built on a powerful mobile platform, you don’t have to worry about your site looking all distorted, or worry about your site loading slow – mobile sites are built for speed and for all mobile devices.
