Here’s a concept that you may have never heard about before but it’s called “Google Authorship“, and it allows anyone publishing content on the web to generate a thumbnail image with their search results.
Let me give you a quick example of what I’m talking about:
Notice in the search result above for the keyword phrase “dui attorney athens ga” the listing that has the thumbnail image associated with it – that’s an example of Google Authorship at work. Basically, Google is adding a social layer to their search results to help increase the quality and “legitimacy” of the pages that get indexed. Allowing content producers to verify themselves, and their content, is one way they can achieve the quality they seek.
