Big Bone is located in Columbia, South Carolina. This establishment is owned and operated by Columbian native Sheila Hill. Chef Hill has been cooking her whole life and has extensive knowledge of all things culinary. That being said, when she was able to begin showcasing her culinary skills through catering, friends, and family began to beg her to open a restaurant. Eventually, Hill gave in to the idea and opened her first restaurant in 2000, the Fancy Skillet.
Life happened but by 2019 Hill was able to get back into the restaurant business. Big Bone was opened in December 2019 and it specializes in mouth-watering, southern-style cooking. Some of the most popular items on the menu include baked turkey wings, fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and pig feet. Sheila Hill didn’t stop there though, she’s created some delicious side items as well, which include cornbread, collard greens, yams, cabbage, and macaroni & cheese.

“DAMN DELICIOUS!! I’ve eaten lots of food in a lot of places but never got anything worth writing home about until now. The cabbage was my first taste and my mouth was so happy, all the flavor!! I couldn’t wait to try the Mac n cheese and man was it good, it was cheesy and delightful. The collard greens were some of the best I’ve ever had and they weren’t made with pork which made my husband’s day!! The fried chicken was nice and juicy on the inside and crispy and crunchy on the outside like it’s supposed to be and the barbecuechicken MOUTH WATERING! The price was great for the amount of food too. This spot has the best food of any I’ve had in the area thus far and I’m grateful for the previous reviewers as they were the reason we chose to eat here. Keep it up y’all!!” – Virginia C.

“Absolutely the best breakfast and lunch spot in Columbia! Most food items are southern comfort but don’t worry, there is something for every kind of person on the menu. The specials NEVER disappoint & usually sell out before 10:00am so order as soon as possible. The signature lemonades are amazing and are available in several different flavors.
