It’s a powerful thing when a business earns enough authority in Google local search to become the “featured business” for their most valuable keyword phrase. When a business reaches the featured spot, Google removes all other local search results, which means the featured business just earned a monopoly on Google’s front page!
I started thinking of this idea of “owning a monopoly in local search” the other day when I saw our client, Avallone Law, show up in the featured local business spot for one of their law firms main targeted keyword phrases criminal defense lawyer new smyrna beach fl.

I’ve had several clients in the past that have earned their way into the featured local business spot before, but just the other day was the first time I saw it as having a monopoly in the local search results.
What do you think? Should I be thinking of local SEO as a way a local business can actually have a monopoly on the search results?
Or is that too aggressive…?
